Ignite Studio features a professional maker/artist to help patrons connect with different creative processes. Drop-in during open studio hours, sign up for a class, or participate in an ongoing collaborative project during these maker residencies. The Maker-in-Residence Program is funded with support from the Friends of the Library.

meet Christina Hollering

Mixed Media Artist

Residency Term: Summer 2024

Christina Hollering is a visual artist, muralist, and associate professor at Herron School of Art and Design. She currently works out of her studio at 201 Studios in Indianapolis. She received a BFA in painting and an MFA in painting and drawing in 2022 from Herron School of Art and Design. Christina's art explores themes of biology, the environment, and the intersection of art and science. Drawing inspiration from the natural world, her compositions challenge viewers to contemplate their relationship with the environment and its creatures.

Christina's work has been exhibited at the Staten Island Museum, Indianapolis International Airport, Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Indianapolis Zoo and several other galleries throughout the country. Along with her gallery work she has completed several murals throughout Indiana. Clients include: Brown County Community Foundation, Coxhall Gardens, Keep Indianapolis Beautiful, and Jiffy Lube. Additional public art partners include the White River Alliance, Citizens Energy Group, Indy Arts Council and Reagan Outdoor Advertising, The White River Alliance and Pacer's Sport and Entertainment.

How can I apply to become Ignite Studio's Maker-in-Residence?
Applications for our 2024 Maker-in-Residence program are currently closed.
How is a Maker-in-Residence selected?
The Maker-in-Residence is selected through a jury process. Jury members include HEPL staff, representatives of organizations with whom Ignite often collaborates, members of the Friends of the Library, and past Makers-in-Residence.
What does Ignite Studio look for in a Maker-in-Residence?
An ideal Maker-in-Residence has an interest in inviting people into their creative process and experience teaching at some level. We look for an artist with various content expertise including but not limited to 2D art and 3D visual art, performing arts, multidisciplinary arts, science and engineering, and craft.
How does a Maker-in-Residence schedule get set?
Once selected, the Maker-in-Residence works with the Arts Engagement Program Coordinator to determine a schedule and variety of experiences for Ignite Studio patrons.
