Ignite Studio seeks Artists-in-Residence for 2023. Central Indiana artists are invited to apply. Ignite Studio is an arts-focused makerspace designed to offer broad access to the Hamilton County community to a variety of art and making practices. Apply here!

We help patrons on-ramp to their creativity by introducing new and exciting equipment and art focused experiences. The Maker-in-Residence program is an integral part of this mission to help inspire and empower people to connect to various art and making practices. Selected residents will receive a $3000 stipend and a modest budget for supplies.

Requirements of Selected Resident 

Serve as the Maker-in-Residence at Ignite Studio during the summer or fall of 2023 over a three-to-four-month span. 

Utilize a 1600 sq. ft. studio space as fully as possible to share your creative process with Ignite Studio patrons. 

Devote 96 hours over the course of the residency to offering and preparing for patron experiences related to your art/making practice. Artists typically offer classes, open studios and other drop-in activities. Classes are not cumulative, but rather single experiences to reach as many unique patrons as possible.  

Schedule will be determined by the resident in coordination with Ignite Studio staff after the selection process is complete. Marketing materials including class or activity descriptions, open studio times, and additional bio information will be required at least four months prior to residency. 

Artist may teach paid classes from studio space provided they were scheduled prior to being selected for the residence and all dates were submitted with application. Chosen residents may not leverage Ignite Studio or the Hamilton East Public Library to sell additional class slots once selected for the residency.

Fall Residency:
September – December, 2023 

Submitted applications will be reviewed for both the Summer and Fall/Winter Residencies. Please note in your application your availability and interest for both timeslots.
