Ignite Celebrates Season of Gratitude

by Kris Hurst

Ignite Studio celebrates Season of Gratitude with slate of exciting, arts-focused programming this November and December. Around this time of year when leaves are falling, evening temperatures are cooler and long walks are more reflective, the library turns its focus to the theme of gratitude.

About Season of Gratitude

Season of Gratitude was created by library staff to:

  • promote inclusivity by offering a theme that is broader than any individual holiday.
  • offer enriching experiences through practicing gratitude personally and in our community.
  • provide enjoyment through fun, creative and inspirational programs and activities.

Ignite is offering several activities incorporating this theme during the months of November and December.

Ignite Celebrates Season of Gratitude

Ema Project Opening Reception

Saturday, November 13, 2021
10:00AM – 4:00PM

This collaborative program between artist Jeanette Pomeroy Parssi and Ignite Studio offers participants a chance to create and share encouraging messages with others. This project is fashioned after the Japanese ’ema’, a tradition where someone writes a personal wish or creates a small work of art and hangs it with other encouraging messages on a special board. This reception will include refreshments and an opportunity to work alongside the artist and add a personal message. Drop-in through Dec. 21st to contribute or check out the collection of wishes added to the board. Open to all ages.

If you are unable to attend the reception, you may also stop by Ignite during the month of November and pick up a packet with the materials to make your own ‘ema’. Follow our step-by-step detailed instructions in the packet or on HEPL’s YouTube channel. While supplies last.
