Comic Book in a Day
Saturday, January 22, 2022 – All Day
Sign up to be a challenge artist and participate in the eight-hour competition to create a comic book from scratch. Showcase your drawing skills, on pen and paper or digitally, and compete to win prizes, including art supplies, comic books and even CASH! Gain exposure as an artist by engaging with local community members and fellow comic book enthusiasts. Plus, you’ll be surrounded by both professional and amateur comic book artists, so you’ll build a network of peers who can help cheer you along in your artistic efforts!

These workshops with expert comic book artists provide access to some top names in comic books as you build your storytelling and drawing skills. Building a Great Story | Virtual Workshop
Thursday, Jan. 13 – 6:30-7:30 pm
Storyteller extraordinaire, Victor Dandridge, will take you on a journy that is sure to help you build bigger and better stories. This all-ages workshop will get your creative juices flowing, whether you are 8 or 80! (Registration required)
Lettering and Layout | In-Person Workshop
Tuesday, Jan 18 – 6:30-7:30 p.m.
A picture can tell a thousand words, but are they the right words? Acclaimed comic book artist, Stuart Sayger, will share tips and tricks for making your comic book layouts and lettering communicate exactly what you want them to. Whether you are a hand lettering enthusiast, a comic book lover, or someone who is just starting to be curious about graphic design, this workshop is sure to inspire. Ages 8 and up. Coloring is a Real Job! | In-Person Workshop
Thursday, Jan. 20 – 6:30-7:30 p.m.
We all loved to color when we were little, but some of us never give it up! Colors can make all the difference to a comic book or other types of graphic art, and there is a wide array of approaches to this process. Join in as we explore the world of color and experiment with different media, styles and approaches to using color to tell a story. No artistic skills required: you don’t even have to be able to color inside the lines. Ages 8 and up. (Registration required)
